Who Pooped?
Crappy job? Not like these zookeepers at the Minnesota Zoo. Droppings can reveal much about the health of an animal. In fact, biologists can even extract DNA from the dung. “Plus it’s free, there’s plenty of it and the animals don’t mind if we take it,” said conservation biologist Tara Harris. The ad agency Preston Kelly of Minneapolis also developed an online game that teaches more about the subject. One way scientists learn about animals is by studying their poop—also called “skat” or “dung.”

Timelines.com is the first web site that enables people like you to collaboratively record, discover and share history. It’s history recorded by the people, for the people.
We want to:
Help you discover events and history in unexpected and unique ways.
Ever wondered what happened around the globe on a specific day, month or year in the past? Or what happened at this specific location yesterday, a few weeks ago, a decade ago, or a century ago? Or how specific events can be similar to other events throughout time and location? We do, and we want to answer these questions.
Provide you with a place where you can exhibit your knowledge and help others.
Share your knowledge and expertise on a topic that you love, and help someone else learn about it. Do you blog or run a site on a particular topic? Create events on Timelines and be sure to provide excerpts with a link back to your blog or site.
So go ahead, discover, record and share history now.
Learn to Code – Code Academy
I admit that I am a tech geek. I love building a website but never had any real formal training…juts lots of time hacking away and making mistakes( A LOT of mistakes!). There are many times when I am am doing something with one of my websites and forget simple codes, mess something up and cant remember hope to fix (PANIC Time!), etc. This site would have been a great help in learning the basics. This site is a great help now…The Geek recommends.
Learn to Code at the.. Code Academy. Codecademy is a team of hackers working hard to build a better way for anyone to teach, and learn, how to code. We’re determined to succeed in realizing our mission to turn a world of tech consumers into one of empowered builders.
“Codecademy is the easiest way to learn to code. It’s interactive, fun, and you can do it with your friends.”
Diigo
Diigo: If you browse or read a lot on the web, we believe you will find Diigo indispensable. Diigo is two services in one -- it is a research and collaborative research tool on the one hand, and a knowledge-sharing community and social content site on the other.
A Personal Research Tool
Diigo provides a browser add-on that can really improve your research productivity. As you read on the web, instead of just bookmarking, you can highlight portions of web pages that are of particular interest to you. You can also attach sticky notes to specific parts of web pages. Unlike most other web "highlighters" that merely clip, Diigo highlights and sticky notes are persistent in the sense that whenever you return to the original web page, you will see your highlights and sticky notes superimposed on the original page, just what you would expect if you highlighted or wrote on a book!
Moreover, all the information -- highlighted paragraphs, sticky notes, and the original url -- are saved on Diigo servers, creating your personal digest of the web, your own collection of highlights from the web - ones that are meaningful to you! You can easily search, access, sort and share this collection from any PC or even iPhone.
A Collaborative Research Platform
Diigo enables effective collaborative research. You can easily share your findings, complete with your highlights and sticky notes, with friends and colleagues. A project team, a class, or a club can create a group on Diigo to pool relevant resources, findings and thoughts together.
Plus Magazine
Plus is an internet magazine which aims to introduce readers to the beauty and the practical applications of mathematics. A lot of people don't have a very clear idea what "real" maths consists of, and often they don't realize how many things they take for granted only work because of a generous helping of it. Apparently, some people even have the idea that it's boring! Weird. Anyway, we hope that even if you're such a person now, you won't be after looking through one or two issues of Plus, and that you'll come back and read future issues as they come out.
Plus provides articles and podcasts on any aspect of mathematics, covering topics as diverse as art, medicine, cosmology and sport, a news section, showing how recent news stories were often based on some underlying piece of maths that never made it to the newspapers, reviews of popular maths books, and puzzles for you to sharpen your wits. We have a regular interview with someone in a maths-related career, showing the wide range of uses maths gets put to in the real world. And all past content remains available online, which besides making for good browsing is, we hope, a useful resource for maths school students and teachers.
